HF info

Besides above mentioned VHF/UHF frequencies, the Buffs are also active on the HF-GCS, the global HF radio system of the USAF, 08992.0 and 11175.0 kHz are used for air-to-air contact and air-ground contact with FORTRESS CONTROL at Fairford. Other interesting HF freqs are all the Mystic Star frequencies, recently used these days with refueling activities are F078 04770.0 kHz and F957 06761.0 kHz.

User with an ALE decoder ( download  ), check these frequencies for AWACS traffic near the Gulf, this traffic is mostly in SPRNET (Secure Protocol) but also in NPRNET (Non-Secure Protocol). After they send their ID and this ID is in sync with the receiver a long digital data burst will follow. You can do nothing with this burst, the only information you will receive is the identifier of the E3 Sentry (with DAT extension) and the ground station ( with NPR or SPR extension) who will relay the information to the Central Command. Frequencies logged for this traffic:

04721.0, 04745.0, 05684.0 , 06715.0, 10600.0,  11181.0, 11199.0, 13950.0, 17973.0, 18300.0,20631.0, 27870.0 kHz

Other interesting and heard HF frequencies related to the Gulf missions:

04739.0, 07630.0, 07961.0, 11170.0 kHz
